Wireless keyboards

Today, most households have one or more computers, equipped with all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately those additions like a keyboard can be uncomfortable or break and need to be replaced. What do you do when one of the keys of your plastic clickity-clak is lose, you would prefer e a smaller key pad or perhaps using your laptop’s board hurts your wrists, neck or shoulders? I guess it means a trip to the electronics computer store!

Some avid computer users feel the urge to improve their computing experiences or want more freedom and with all the latest technological advances at their finger tips consider a switch from the standard to a wireless keyboard. Here are a few points you may want to consider if you are going to buy a new wireless keyboard for yourself or as a gift:

Make sure the device has a good operating range.
It needs a proper ID or address.
Having ample protection against interference is a must.
Achieving success also means you need a 2-way communications system. If there is any kind of RF interference, characters drop out and make it look like the person who is typing can’t spell. That is why you need a unit with a logical system that if the keyboard sends a character to the receiver it very quickly replies that it got it. If the keyboard doesn’t get the appropriate response, it will resend the keystroke immediately.
If security is an issue you may want to invest in a keyboard that has an encryption system to ensure that unsecured keystrokes don’t end up in the next room or building where important data or passwords could be harvested.
Rechargeable batteries can be an asset, however if your keyboard is dead and your charger is at home, a keyboard that uses regular batteries can save the day.

For those who travel it would be advisable to buy either a sleeve or case for your keyboard. Travel cases are designed to hold a wireless keyboard and other mobile laptop gear. Sleeves are cushioned wraps or shells, which usually are water- and slip resistant.

Some keyboards are miniature in size, have a built-in trackball or touchpad mousing ability, have Bluetooth capabilities or include a charging deck. They are all very attractive, but remember, the paying "less is more" philosophy doesn’t always work in your favor when you buy electronic devices. Check reviews and talk to other users before making your final decision. In the end that’s what will pay off!
